Still I Rise: Racism And Sexism Through Maya Angelou’s Personal Experiences

Do you recall when you began playing? Although we all begin playing at an early age, age restrictions do not apply until the individual is physically fit.

All you need to do is play and enjoy the benefits. Three positive aspects to games and sports include: Variety, Mental and physical development, and Life lessons.

The variety of games and sports available to suit every taste is the reason why almost everyone has a favorite. Indoor, outdoor, and digital games are the main categories of games. Indoor games require brain skills, while outdoor games demand physical participation. Outdoor games are subtypes of sports, which are usually played by teams on a specific field or playground. Digital gaming is only possible with electronic gadgets. These include mobile phones, videogames, computers and more. In Turkey, a survey was done among university students in order to determine their preference for games. The gender factor was the most important. 58 percent of girls preferred to play outside, while 32.5% chose digital games. The boys preferred outdoor and indoor games at 50.4%, 46.8% and 2.8% respectively. (Tatli, 2018, p.100). Indoor games are played by both genders very little. It is also helpful to consider other factors, such as computer availability and Internet access. The interest of a person who regularly plays digitally, online or in a sports game is likely to grow. It is even better if they begin to play the game in real life and are involved on the field. Video games can promote participation in actual sports. This association is largely due to self-esteem. (Adachi & Willoughby, 2016). There are many factors that determine the choice of sport or game.

There are many benefits to playing, including the development of both your physical and mental health. Outdoor games and sports are a great way to develop your body. Playing helps to strengthen muscles by stretching them. The blood flow in the body is also increased by playing. In addition, the sweating that occurs when you play is great for your health. Sweating cleanses the body of unwanted substances like alcohol, salts and cholesterol (Borreli 2014). Outdoor activities reduce the risk of common diseases. Playing also helps develop mental abilities. They begin to challenge themselves and their brain, and they develop confidence. Indoor games like Chess and Ludo or Puzzle games are good for the brain. The power of imagination and thinking is increased. Playing games regularly increases concentration. Playing improves memory. Children who play games from a younger age tend to do better in school. Sports can also have a positive impact on mood. Watson (2016) claims that when the brain is involved in an outdoor activity completely, it undergoes chemical changes. This relaxes us and makes us happier. There is a similar way to reduce stress and depression. It involves decreasing stress hormones while simultaneously increasing mood boosters called endorphins (para. 2 & 3). Sporting or playing helps to maintain a healthy mind. Games are important for mental and physical development.

Playing teaches you some life lessons, in addition to the variety of games and your physical and mental growth. When you first start playing a new sport or game, you may not be able or win. The game is not over. Just keep on practicing until you win. In life, it is no different. We all face situations in our lives where we feel helpless or like a loser. But you do not lose, you just want to succeed. Rampone (n.d.), in a beautiful quote, says that making mistakes is just part of life. How you deal with mistakes will determine whether or not you are successful. You can learn from your mistakes and continue forward. In order to achieve this, you need a positive attitude that encourages you to challenge yourself and improve yourself. To play, you must also set realistic goals for yourself, both short-term as well as long-term, and be motivated to reach them. As we play in teams, it teaches us how to effectively communicate and work together even with those who may be at times opposed. Moreover, it improves our emotional control. For example, experiencing sorrow, anger, excitement etc. Use them to help you bring out your best (Lesyk 1998) Our most important lesson is how to behave, respect and follow rules. We learn about teamwork, discipline, and leadership, which all help to develop a positive personality.

Sports and games are a great way to get fit, learn about yourself and others. The benefits of games and sports are endless. All you need to do is participate. The benefits and variety of sports and games are available to everyone. Playing is a way to learn and have fun at the same time.
